Hainan Ningyuan Institute of Climate and Sustainable Development (hereinafter referred to as the “HICSD”) is a non-profit organization established within the scientific and rule-based framework of global climate governance, which serves as the Project Management Office (PMO) for the “Green and Digital Innovation Cooperation Project (hereinafter referred to as “GDIP”) of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP).
The United Nations Development Program (UNDP) supports the establishment of the “UNDP China Marine and Island Climate Sustainability Innovation Lab” (hereinafter referred to as the “UNDP MICS Lab”) at HICSD, to build a public platform for experimenting and demonstrating climate solutions tailored to marine and island regions, assisting developing countries, oceanic and island regions to explore climate resilient and sustainable development models.
As the implementation agency of GDIP PMO and carrier of UNDP MICS Lab, HICSD has separate legal personality, owns and operates the website gdip.cgsda.org (hereinafter referred to as “the Website”), on behalf of GDIP. The users (hereinafter referred to as “Visitors”) shall access and use the website in accordance with the following Terms of Use and Privacy Policy.

Any visitor who accesses or uses the Website agrees to accept and be bound by the Terms of Use and Privacy Policy. Please do not use the Website if any person does not agree to and accept all of the Terms of Use and Privacy Policy.

GDIP has developed this Privacy Policy to describe how and what type of personal data will be collected from visitors of the Website.

Data Collection
The Website collects two types of data:
Personal Data: it refers to all kinds of information recorded electronically or otherwise that can identify a specific natural person alone or in combination with other information but does not include anonymized information.
To access specific sections (e.g. member registration, event registration), Visitors may be asked to provide personal information such as name and email address. This information will only be collected when Visitors fill in the relevant forms provided on the Website and voluntarily provide relevant personal information, and this information will be stored in the GDIP database.
General Data: the Website uses Cookies to automatically collect non-personally identifiable information to monitor visitor usage patterns and behavior and improve user experience. Use of Information
GDIP will use the general information collected to analyze the browsing patterns and usage trends of all Visitors to the Website to optimize the structure and content of the Website. 1. Delegated processing and sharing
GDIP will not share the personal data of Visitors with any company, organization and individual except in the following circumstances: 1) Providing information within the scope required for business to contractors and partners. 2) Sharing Visitors’ personal information with the public in accordance with laws and regulations, or in accordance with the mandatory requirements of administrative agencies and judicial agencies. When presenting or providing personal data, GDIP will require the recipient to take protective measures to prevent illegal disclosure of personal data.
2. Transfer
GDIP will not transfer the personal data of Visitors to any company, organization or individual, except in the following cases: 1) GDIP will transfer the personal data of Visitors to other parties after obtaining the explicit consent or authorization of Visitors in advance. If required by laws and regulations, GDIP will inform and obtain the Visitors’ explicit consent when transferring sensitive information in accordance with the requirements of laws and regulations. 2) It must be provided in accordance with laws and regulations, legal procedural requirements, mandatory administrative or judicial requirements; 3) Subject to relevant agreements signed with Visitors or other legal documents; 4) In terms of merger, acquisition or bankruptcy liquidation, if it involves the transfer of personal data, GDIP will require the new company or organization that holds the Visitors’ personal data to continue to be bound by this Policy, otherwise GDIP will require the company or organization to re-request the authorization and consent of Visitors.

Use of Cookie
Cookies are small text files that are temporarily stored on the local computer of Visitors. Cookies contain randomly generated identifiers that enable GDIP to recognize the Visitors' computer and collect information about the pages and features Visitors use on their browser. Data security
GDIP takes a range of technical and security measures to protect the information on the Website from loss, misuse, disclosure, tampering or destruction.
All employees of the GDIP involved in the processing of personal data are obliged to protect the confidential business of GDIP, including personal data of Visitors, etc.

GDIP may refuse requests that are unwarranted and repetitive, require excessive technical means (for example, develop new systems or fundamentally change existing practices), pose risks to the legitimate interests of others, or are highly unrealistic.
GDIP will not be able to respond to Visitors’ requests as required by law and regulations in the following circumstances:
1. Directly related to national security and national defense security;
2. Directly related to public safety, public health and major public interests;
3. Directly related to criminal investigation, prosecution, trial and judgment execution;
4. There is sufficient evidence to show that Visitors have subjective malice or abuse their rights;
5. Responding to Visitors’ requests will cause serious damage to the legitimate rights and interests of Visitors or other individuals and organizations.
6. Related to trade secrets.
Protection of Personal Data of Minors
GDIP Website and tools are not intended for minors (although local laws, regulations and customs define minors differently, GDIP treats anyone under the age of 14 as a minor), and GDIP does not knowingly collect personal data from minors through the Website and tools. If Visitors are aware that GDIP has collected any personal data about a minor through the GDIP Website and tools, please contact us. If GDIP learns that it has collected personal data from minors through GDIP Website and tools, GDIP will take reasonable steps to delete such data as soon as possible without prior notice.
Cross-border Transfer of Personal Data
In principle, the personal data collected and generated by GDIP in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China (HKSAR) will be stored in HKSAR. Since GDIP provides activities or services through global resources, Visitors’ personal data may be transferred to the countries /regions outside the HKSAR where Visitors participate in activities or use services for storage, processing and migration, or may be accessed by individuals or organizations from those jurisdictions, after obtaining the express authorized consent of Visitors.
These countries/regions may have data protection laws that differ from, or may not have, existing laws in HKSAR. In such circumstances, GDIP ensures that Visitors’ personal data is adequately equivalent to the protection within HKSAR.
Nonetheless, information posted by Visitors on the GDIP Website or personal data submitted for the purpose of publication may be accessible worldwide via the Internet, and GDIP cannot guarantee to prevent others from using or misusing such information.
Personal Data via E-mail
When Visitors send personally identifiable information to GDIP by e-mail (or submit such information to GDIP through a form on the Website), GDIP will use e-mail to respond to the Visitors’ request. GDIP can forward Visitors’ messages to GDIP-related agencies that can better deal with the questions. GDIP will, at its sole discretion, retain information collected via e-mail in a form that is directly readable.

Jurisdiction
These Use Terms and Privacy Policy shall be governed by and interpreted in accordance with the laws and regulations of HKSAR, under the exclusion of any conflicts of laws principles. Visitors shall agree the jurisdiction of HKSAR regarding any legal proceedings or interpretation of the Terms of Use and Privacy Policy. Exclusive place of jurisdiction shall be Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.
